Rachel and Junior celebrated their wedding on July 23, 2024, at Tankardstown House in County Meath. The couple, who met on the dating app Hinge, planned a day for 120 guests that fused timeless elegance with a celebration of Junior's Nigerian roots, according to a feature on One Fab Day.

Planning and Priorities

Once engaged after a 2022 proposal in Mauritius, the couple focused on designing a day that reflected their shared style and heritage. A key priority was ensuring they could spend the entire wedding day together. To help this, they hosted a dinner for friends and family the evening before. This allowed them to connect with guests in a relaxed setting beforehand.

Rachel and Junior told One Fab Day their vision was timeless and elegant. They aimed to let the venue's natural beauty speak for itself. They also planned to honor Junior's Nigerian heritage through traditional attire later in the celebrations.

The Venue and Ceremony

The couple selected Tankardstown House for its indoor-outdoor flexibility, a practical consideration for Ireland's weather. They were particularly drawn to the property's Orangery. "The Orangery alone cemented it for us," they said. "The whole venue is beautiful, but the Orangery was exactly what we envisioned for our day."

Their Humanist ceremony was conducted by celebrant Amy Browne in the Orangery. After exchanging vows, they walked back down the aisle as husband and wife to a string quartet version of Coldplay's "A Sky Full of Stars." The couple are both fans of the band.

Fashion and Personal Touches

Rachel wore a corseted gown by designer Katherine Tash, sourced from Ivy & White. Her makeup was done by Carla Bailie Beauty, and her hair was styled by Natalie Foy. Junior began the day in a soft green suit from Reiss. He later changed into a custom-made agbada, a traditional Nigerian outfit crafted in Lagos.

The bridal party complemented the elegant theme. The table below outlines the key fashion elements for the wedding party.

Junior's family also wore traditional Yoruba lace and agbadas, creating a vibrant highlight. The couple said having loved ones travel to attend made the day deeply special. They also cherished the presence of their grandparents, who have since passed away.

Reception and Details

Frog Prince Weddings provided the floral designs, featuring long-stemmed bouquets and arrangements of white roses with subtle blush tones. The all-white wedding cake, with gold accents, was made by Butterfly Bakery.

The couple's first dance was to "The Best Part" by H.E.R. And Daniel Caesar. A DJ kept the dance floor active all night with a mix of 00s R&B, Afrobeats, and 80s dance hits. For their honeymoon, Rachel and Junior returned to Bali, a destination they had visited and loved in 2018.

Their advice to other couples is straightforward. "As much as you can, don't stress the small things and remember to have fun," they said. "It's about the both of you, so do it exactly how you want!" The event was captured by photographers Forever Social.
