David and Paul celebrated their wedding with 135 guests at Tinakilly Country House Hotel in County Wicklow. Their April event aimed for a rustic, relaxed atmosphere, captured by photographer Phil Voon of Give Us A Goo.

The couple, David from Bray and Paul from London, met online. Their first date was in a bar in Tralee, Kerry. David proposed during a holiday in the Azores, Portugal, surprising Paul by a pool beneath a waterfall mid-hike. From the start, planning focused on creating a chilled and fun occasion for everyone.

Creating the Atmosphere

A rustic feel was central to their vision. They wanted an inviting space where guests could chat, unwind, or dance. The venue itself was a key choice. They say walking into Tinakilly House confirmed it was the one. The staff's friendliness and support sealed the decision.

Music set the tone for their deeply personal ceremony. The Castle String Quartet performed classical versions of modern songs chosen for their personal meaning.

Readings were delivered by friends, adding another layer of personal significance. The couple praised their celebrant, Shona Weymes, for setting the perfect tone and making many guests think she was an old friend.

Personal Styling and Details

The grooms wore timeless tweed suits from Hunter Treacy with brogues from Bray Footwear. Buttonholes were created by Fleurtique Florist.

Family involvement made the day extra special. Their families designed and created the seating plan and table displays. This personal touch meant a great deal to David and Paul.

Planning Advice and Day-Of Tips

The couple shared practical advice from their experience. They found it helpful to set aside specific time each week to focus on wedding logistics. This prevented the process from becoming overwhelming.

On the day itself, they made a point of checking in with each other regularly. They wanted to consciously take in the moments, as everything goes by very quickly.

The Celebration Continues

The first dance became a magical moment under the stars. They danced to I Will Follow You by Toulouse in a wooded area, surrounded by guests holding sparklers. The band Spring Break then kept the party going well into the early hours.

While a full honeymoon is still in planning, the couple enjoyed a mini-moon to Girona in Spain for a perfect weekend trip. Their entire celebration, from the first look to the last dance, was defined by the rustic elegance and personal heart they prioritized.
