High School Sweethearts Wear Prom Crowns at Garden Wedding
Caroline and Wes incorporated their prom crowns into their whimsical garden wedding reception, a surprise gift from the maid of honor.

Caroline and Wes, high school sweethearts, wore the crowns from their prom as king and queen during their wedding reception. The surprise gift from the maid of honor was a nostalgic highlight of their whimsical garden celebration, which took place nearly a decade after they first met in a tenth-grade history class.
The couple envisioned a wedding that felt like stepping into a blooming spring meadow. The design embraced a gathered-over-time aesthetic with lush florals and delicate textures, inspired by wildflower gardens and European garden parties.
The Fashion
Caroline wore a romantic off-the-shoulder gown from Vows Bridal in Massachusetts. The dress had a corset-style bodice with lace trim and sheer sleeves, paired with a classic veil.
Her bridesmaids wore an assortment of pink dresses in various silhouettes, textures, and patterns. This mix-and-match approach included soft blush solids and romantic floral prints. The groom and groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos from Men's Wearhouse.
Food and Drink Details
Guests were served a selection of passed hors d'oeuvres and dinner through interactive small plate stations. The menu blended Southern and coastal flavors.
Florals and Decor
RSG Florals provided blooms in blush, pink, lavender, blue, ivory, and yellow. The ceremony featured ground floral arrangements, and bridesmaids carried garden-style bouquets. For the reception, guest tables had low floral arrangements and candles, while king tables showed compote arrangements and bud vases. The florist also provided reception draping, chandeliers, and uplighting.
Oh Darling Details created custom signage, including an escort display featuring Polaroid-style photos of guests instead of a traditional seating chart. EventWorks Rentals furnished lounge seating for cocktail hour.
Ceremony and Reception Moments
Caroline walked down the aisle to a rendition of Canon in D, which transitioned into Here Comes the Sun as the doors opened. Her father, Tom, gave a welcome toast after the ceremony. The newlyweds were introduced to the song These Words. Speeches were given by the maid of honor and best man during dinner.
The wedding cake was a two-tier buttercream cake from Publix, decorated with fresh blooms and whimsical blue bird cake toppers. After the reception, the couple invited guests to continue celebrating at a local spot called Pawleys Island Tavern.
