Dua Lipa Dances Traditional Albanian Valle at Cousin's
Dua Lipa celebrated her cousin's wedding in Kosovo by performing a traditional Albanian valle dance with her father, balancing glasses on their heads.

Dua Lipa performed a traditional Albanian valle dance with her father at her cousin's wedding in Kosovo. She shared the moment publicly on Instagram on Sunday, Sept. 27, congratulating her cousin And' Gjakova and his bride Rozafa Kelmendi on their nuptials in Pristina.
Dua Lipa described the event as a 'big Albanian wedding'. She welcomed Rozafa Kelmendi as the newest member of the family. Her husband, Callum Turner, did not appear to be at the wedding.
The valle dance performance
Dua Lipa and her father Dukagjin Lipa performed a traditional Albanian valle dance, balancing drinking glasses on their heads while dancing in circles. The pair kept the glasses perfectly balanced while dancing with their arms in the air. They finished the dance by bowing to each other, then removed the glasses from their own heads.
Wedding guests clapped around them during the performance. Dua Lipa wore a backless black dress with feathers on the neckline for the dance.
Family participation and details
The dance was surrounded by clapping guests, with some using traditional valle handkerchiefs. Dua Lipa also posed and danced with other family members throughout the weekend. The carousel of photos she shared included moments with her mother Anesa, sister Rina, and brother Gjin.
Among the photos was the moment the newlyweds cut their multi-tiered cake. Dukagjin Lipa joked beneath Dua's Instagram post, writing: 'I'm still dancing'.
Dua Lipa’s outfit and social media share
For the dance, Dua Lipa wore a backless black feathered dress. Earlier that day, she wore a different outfit: a gold crochet-style top covered with collected buttons over black trousers. The top was identified as a Lou de Bètoly design with metallic details and colorful embellishments.
She shared a carousel of photos from the wedding weekend on Instagram. In her caption, she wrote: "My cousin married the woman of his dreams and we had a big Albanian wedding!!! @andgjakova @kelmendirozafa 🤍🤍🤍po na rritet rrethi!!!!!"
Context of heritage and recent milestones
The family get-together came around a month after Lipa celebrated her first birthday since marrying Callum Turner. On Aug. 24, she shared an Instagram post showing her birthday celebration with Turner, which included visiting the countryside, playing basketball, and sampling birthday cakes. She captioned that post: "Birthday weekend 💋 thank you for all the love and the wishes!!! Ready for my next lap around the sun...it just keeps getting better 💋"
Dua Lipa married Callum Turner, who is 36 years old, in a private civil ceremony at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall on May 31. After the London ceremony, Dua and Callum continued celebrations with a multi-day wedding in Palermo, Sicily.
The event reflects her deep ties to Albanian culture. Dua Lipa was born in London to Kosovo Albanian parents and received Albanian citizenship in 2022. She moved with her family to Pristina in 2008 before returning to London as a teenager to pursue music. Albanian was the language of her home life, and much of her extended family remains in Kosovo.
The family's Sunny Hill Festival, based in Pristina, has grown into one of Southeast Europe's major music events and regularly brings international performers to Kosovo. Dua Lipa has previously shown off dancing with a glass on her head in vacation snaps.
